I have replaced soft drinks with green tea. Green tea is full of all kinds of anti-oxidants, and research shows that it can be helpful in the prevention of cancer, cardiovascular disease, lowering cholesterol, rheumatoid arthritis and infections. I drink mine unsweetened, but you can use splenda, or honey as a healthy alternative to sugar.

We've been making small changes over a long time. Like eating whole grain bread instead of white. Using Splenda instead of sugar when possible. Substituting olive oil instead of butter in some recipes. Tiny steps, sure, but added together they do make a difference.

At 57 I have finally come to the conclusion that my appearance is not nearly as important as whether or not I am healthy. Healthy eating makes me feel better and feel better about myself, even if I am a little fluffier looking than I was at 25! I splurge every once in awhile (like at a family reunion yesterday) but most of the time I eat pretty healthy.
