The End of Hurricane Season ... Finally!

We down here along the United States coastline of the Gulf of Mexico are happy to note that as of yesterday we are officially out of the hurricane season. Thank you Lord!

Hurricane season officially runs from June 1st through November 30th and I gotta tell ya, those can be the loooooongest 6 months of your life, especially when there is a lot of activity. We had several hurricanes brush by us this year, creating minor wind damage and problem flooding even here, but overall we fared well.

For those of us along the Mississippi Gulf Coast who are still recovering from Hurricane Katrina in 2005, we had a pretty nervous season this year with all of those close calls. At one point with 3 hurricane threats in a row, the hurricane shutters on the windows of our house were bolted down for a month straight! That made for a very dark house, though I admit I slept really well.

Of course we are still thinking of those of you on Texas and Louisiana coast who were hit so hard. We know what you are going through and our hearts go out to you. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all and I hope that the relief efforts that we have made from our end of the Gulf have helped in some small way to let you know how much we understand.
