Wednesday, November 11th is Veterans Day. It is no secret that I am the wife of a veteran. Happy Veterans Day to all of our veterans, including The Cajun.
To my readers, no matter how you feel politically, if you see a member of our armed forces out and about this week, please take the time to stop and thank them for their service to our country. It truly means the world to them.
Thank you to all of our men and women, retired and active duty, for the sacrifices you have made for this country. It is on this day that we honor you and your families, and offer the sincere thanks of a grateful nation. Thank you for your service and dedication to causes that promote democracy and freedom for all people all over the world.
Thank you for standing for liberty, defending this great nation, and for ensuring that the freedom we enjoy today continues, many times at your own great personal sacrifice.
God bless our veterans and God bless the United States of America!

ReplyDeleteThanks for the post, Mary. I'm the wife of a vet, and proud of all who have served or are serving now!
ReplyDeletePacifism is a fine ideal, and if only the entire world would embrace it. But they do not, and so I am grateful for our military, who sacrifice so very much. I get a little angry at our government, which I don't think honors the veterans and military personnel enough, but not at the soldiers, sailors, etc themselves. I would like to see them accorded the money, prestige, and benefits befitting someone who would die to keep us free.
ReplyDeleteMy Michael is a veteran of the Gulf War and though i did not know him at the time i still feel a tremendous sense of pride to know him.
