The Best Gift Ever

What a weekend.

Flowers, a sweet card and some mad money from my mother in law.

A new recliner {where I blog the most} from The Cajun - though I do still have to find one!

Spending uninterrupted time with my son, daughter in law, and grandchildren - no other family, just us.

Having the longest and best conversation with my daughter in law that I think I have ever had.

Reading a story with my Grandson.

Playing cars.

Holding my newly born Granddaughter forever & not having to share her. Admiring her and watching her facial expressions and how there is such wonderment in her about this new world.

Playing the role of tickle monster, chasing after my Grandson.

Watching the game of 'how many toys can I drop down through my basket ball hoop with my Paw Paw' and the pure joy of the moment in The Cajun's eyes.

A fine meal, served to me.  Ribeye steaks - special cuts requested from the butcher by my daughter in law "for a mother in law's special day" and grilled by my son.

Garlic bread, hash brown casserole, and corn on the cob made at the hand of my daughter in law.

A yummy German Chocolate Birthday Cake, also made by my daugher in law.

Blowing out birthday candles with my Grandson.

And I didn't have to clean a dish.

These are the things that a perfect birthday are made of.

"Sorry, we couldn't get you an expensive gift" the son - father to a newborn daughter and a 2 year old son, trying to adjust to becoming a one-income family - says to his mother.

"Don't be silly," she replies as she hugs him goodbye, wiping away a tear. "This was the best gift ever."
